For Immediate Release:

(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Copper Cliff Minor Hockey Association, CCMHA, is pleased to announce the confirmation of their first annual Player PERFORMANCE Clinic on August 7th at 6:00pm at the McClelland Arena Upper Hall. The evening clinic is being organized by the Copper Cliff Reds Rep Hockey Program featuring Dr. Cassidy Preston, former OHL Player and USPORT Athlete who completed his PhD in Sports Psychology.

Dr. Preston is a North Bay native who will be running Parents, Players and Coaches through a series of mental training exercises for youth athletes to use in establishing the Hockey Mindset.

[UPDATE] The evening session will be FREE for all CCMHA registered Parents, Players and Coaches as well as BOTH NICKEL CITY MINOR HOCKEY AND SUDBURY MINOR HOCKEY ASSOCIATIONS PARENTS, PLAYERS AND COACHES. CCMHA WOULD LIKE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE LEADERSHIP OF BOTH ORGANIZATIONS FOR CONTRIBUTING TO THE EVENT AND MAKING THE VALUABLE INFORMATION AVAILABLE TO THEIR MEMBERS.

*Interested individuals from the public, parents, players and coaches of other minor hockey or alternate sport organizations locally are invited and are asked to bring a non-perishable food item or make a donation to the Foodbank for admission. All are welcomed to attend. *

“I am looking forward to meeting with the players, parents and coaches from CCMHA and all over Sudbury in a few weeks,” commented Dr. Preston. “It’s going to be an exciting workshop full of applied learning for everyone in attendance.”

CCMHA recently revealed changes to the logo and name of the Rep Program, the Copper Cliff REDS. In addition to other improvements they are making to the volunteer led hockey program, the executive are keen to see the sport grow and youth to have great opportunities to develop hockey and life skills while having fun building friendships on and off the ice.

“The Performance Clinic is another aspect of what makes our organization different and attractive to families and players,” said Executive member and Ice-allocation chair Leo Verilli. “We want families to register with CCMHA because of the experience and opportunities that exist within the network and the association. Dr. Preston is on the leading edge of mental performance and resilience in player development. The learning that comes from his workshop can be applied to the ice and the classroom for our player/students.”

The organization is pleased to share the new website, online registration and other news available at www.coppercliffminorhockey.com or email coppercliffminorhockeyinfo@gmail.com .
